Wingtra signs a partnership deal with Nikon-Trimble

The Swiss drone manufacturer Wingtra has signed a partnership agreement with Nikon-Trimble, a surveying, construction and precision agriculture equipment maker and reseller. Nikon-Trimble will sell Wingtra drones through its distribution networks in Japan.

“I feel that we have really found the right partner to kick-off Wingtra sales in the Japanese market. Nikon-Trimble has a strong network that will allow to effectively introduce the product and make it accepted as a standard solution in Japan”, commented Marco Barnobi, Business Development Manager at Wingtra.

WingtraOne drone takes-off and lands as a multicopter but flies in the air as a fixed wing aircraft. This technology (VTOL) eliminates the risk of damaging the aircraft while landing, lets the drone carry heavier and thus better sensors (e.g. 42 MP RX1RII) and still allows mapping of large areas. With the latest upgrade, WingtraOne PPK drone offers a combination of large coverage, ultra-high resolution and accuracy down to 1 cm.

“Japan is a country with scarce land and with more than 90% of the electrical grid on electrical poles. These two characteristics combined make traditional fixed-wing drones almost impossible to be operated. Wingtra, with its trademark VTOL feature is very suited to be used in such environments. The partnership with Wingtra will surely help us in bringing the right solutions to our customers.” (Mauro Fujii, Senior Manager at Nikon-Trimble)
