Newly expanded, all-digital 2016 Plan Contest focuses on creativity and innovative problem solving in client deliverables
Leica Geosystems announced the launch of the 2016 Plan Contest. An annual highlight of the Geosystems Track at HxGN LIVE, the contest gives conference attendees the opportunity to showcase their best deliverables by submitting plans that demonstrate creativity and innovative problem solving with point clouds.
New for 2016, the Plan Contest has expanded to encompass all forms of reality capture, including High Definition Surveying (HDS)/3D laser scanning, MultiStation laser scanning, mobile mapping and backpack imaging. All entries will be displayed prominently on interactive digital displays during the conference, giving participants the opportunity to include links, animations and other interactive components as part of their plans.
The 2016 contest includes four entry categories:
- Buildings/Heritage;
- Civil/Survey;
- Plant/Marine; and
- Building Construction.
A panel of qualified judges will evaluate entries based on the completeness and usefulness of the plans, the creative use of point clouds and models, and overall appearance. First- and second-place winners in each category will be announced during an Awards Presentation 15 June at HxGN LIVE Anaheim.
“By applying innovative solutions in clever ways, our customers continually raise the bar on the standard of excellence in project deliverables,” said Michael Harvey, 2016 Plan Contest chair. “The annual Plan Contest inspires everyone involved in reality capture to see point clouds from a new perspective and explore unconventional approaches to complex challenges. We look forward to seeing the next wave of ingenuity in the 2016 Reality Capture Plan Contest submissions.”
The deadline for entries is 15 May.
