Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, has been named a CES 2024 Innovation Awards Honoree for the Leica BLK2GO PULSE. The CES Innovation Awards is an annual competition honouring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products across 29 product categories.
The program was ALL ON for CES 2024, receiving more than 3,000 submissions, a record high and a 40% increase over CES 2023.
An independent panel of industry expert judges, including members of the media, designers, engineers and more, reviewed submissions based on innovation and functionality, aesthetic, and design.
The BLK2GO PULSE is a new first-person laser scanner that combines cutting-edge LiDAR sensor technology with the original Leica BLK2GO form factor. It provides customers with a rapid, simple and intuitive first-person scanning method, controlled with their smartphone, that delivers complete colourised 3D point clouds instantly in the field.
Built in collaboration with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (Sony), the global leader in image sensors, the BLK2GO PULSE fuses Sony’s advanced Time-of-Flight (ToF) LiDAR sensors with Leica Geosystems’ proven GrandSLAM technology. This combination resulted in the world’s first dual ToF handheld scanner with first-person operation via smartphone. The BLK2GO PULSE delivers data that is ready to use, share, and export or upload to the cloud immediately after capture. Uploading data to Reality Cloud Studio, powered by HxDR, enables seamless cloud-based visualisation, collaboration, real-time automated registration and meshing, and secure data storage.
“The recognition from CES underscores our commitment to democratising reality capture and making the user experience intuitive without compromising technology innovation, quality or accuracy,” said Thomas Harring, President at Hexagon’s Geosystems division. “As we celebrate this milestone, we are delighted to make the BLK2GO PULSE widely available and are confident it will transform the way indoor spaces are captured and results are visualised instantly.”
The BLK product series from Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, is a line of reality capture, laser scanning, and photogrammetry hardware and software solutions. Leica Geosystems’ inclusion in the 2024 CES Innovation Awards marks the product series’ seventh appearance in the annual awards program.
