Avenza Receives ‘Geospatial World Innovation Award’ for Mobile Mapping

Avenza Systems, producers of MAPublisher cartographic software for Adobe Illustrator and Geographic Imager geospatial tools for Adobe Photoshop, celebrates its recognition as a mobile mapping provider at this year’s Geospatial World Forum in Amsterdam, Netherlands by winning the conference’s Geospatial World Innovation award for Mobile Mapping with its PDF Maps app and digital map store solution for the iOS platform.

ASPRS Approves Resolution on U.S. Imaging Program

By a unanimous vote of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Board of Directors, the Society has issued a third resolution calling for immediate support and funding for the continuation of the Nation’s moderate resolution imaging program.  Due to a technical failure in the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) instrument on-board the Landsat 7 spacecraft in May 2003, and the recent decline of the Landsat 5 spacecraft, the continued collection of useful moderate-resolution, multispectral remote sensing data is now jeopardized.

The OGC Seeks Participants for Hydrologic Forecasting Interoperability Experiment

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites participation in a Hydrologic Forecasting Interoperability Experiment (IE). This activity, which will begin on September 22, 2011, is designed to advance the development of WaterML 2.0 and test its use in a forecasting context with various OGC service interface standards.

Microsoft Announces USGS Certification for UltraCamLp

Microsoft’s UltraCam Division announces that the UltraCamLp successfully completed the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Sensor Type Certification Process. After a thorough review, USGS found the UltraCamLp “to be designed, manufactured, tested, and supported to the level required to reliably meet the performance claims of the manufacturer when operated within manufacturer’s intended operational parameters.”

Technology Innovation in Photogrammetry Award

Microsoft Corporation and its subsidiary Vexcel Imaging, GmbH were the winners of the Technology Innovation in Photogrammetry award at the Geospatial World Forum Conference for the company’s UltraCamXp Wide Angle digital aerial camera and for the monolithic stitching capability of its UltraMap workflow software. The honor was received on 18 January 2011 in Hyderabad, India, at a ceremony attended by more than 800 delegates.
