Turkey’s General Directorate of National Property has contracted with Microsoft’s UltraCam business unit and subsidiary, Vexcel Imaging GmbH, to purchase an UltraCam Eagle, the most recent offering in the line of award-winning UltraCam digital aerial camera systems. The deal was brokered by Atay Engineering Co., Vexcel Imaging GmbH’s partner in Turkey.

Leica Geosystems released an update of Leica GeoMoS Web, the web-based service for visualization and analysis of monitoring data via the Internet. Leica GeoMoS Web v2.1 provides advanced visualization capabilities and can be accessed by using a web browser, PDA, or mobile phone.

Following development of the BlomURBEX API, v3.1 of the BlomDESKTOP Viewer is now available. BlomDESKTOP Viewer is Blom's stand alone geospatial data viewer and offers advanced measurement and interrogation capabilities. The latest release has largely focused on the addition of new features and the integration of BlomSTREET, powered by Cyclomedia, ground level imagery technology.

The Handheld Group, manufacturer of rugged PDAs and mobile devices, continue their expansion with a new office in the UK. The new subsidiary, Handheld UK &  Ireland Ltd, will cover the key UK and Irish markets and will enable Handheld, the fastest growing global manufacturer of rugged handheld devices, to support existing and new partners generate new business opportunities in the expanding UK market. The UK office is Handheld’s fourth new subsidiary in the last 12 months.

Leica Geosystems announced the largest ever order of Leica ScanStation C10’s as UK Police Forces embrace High Definition SurveyingTM (HDS). The scanners will be supplied as part of a £2.7 million investment from the Department of Transport to reduce motorway closures following a collision. Delivery of the instruments, full onsite training and support will commence later this month in readiness to help ease the potential traffic congestion caused by major collisions, especially in light of the forthcoming 2012 Olympics.

3D Laser Mapping is set to revolutionise the investigation of motorway collisions  following the award of GBP 2.7 million (USD 4.2 million) by the Department of  Transport. The funding will enable 27 police forces across England to purchase 3D laser scanners - used to collect highly detailed, 3D images of crash sites up to 50 percent faster than traditional survey techniques. 3D Laser Mapping has established itself as the primary supplier of laser scanning technology for collision investigation.
