Pitney Bowes Software (PBS) announced that South Tipperary County Council (STCC) in Ireland has upgraded to Pitney Bowes MapInfo Professional v11.0 - the most cost-effective way to provide desktop mapping to its users. The new system, supplied through one of PBS’ Irish partners, Troyteq, goes live this month and  means that council teams will now have the latest desktop mapping application and direct access to OSi MapGenie, a new service from the Ordnance Survey that provides online access to the most complete and highest quality map data of Ireland that is available.

ASPRS has released a second draft of the “Guidelines for Procurement of Commercial Geospatial Mapping Products.” The material is updated from the April 2011 version. The document is considered DRAFT FOR REVIEW and is being published at this time to encourage wide dissemination and comment.

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) announced the formation of a new OGC Technical Committee Standards Working Group (SWG) to advance the candidate OGC IndoorGML Standard. The OGC members invite the public to comment on the SWG charter and will consider comments received before 10 February 2012.
