A group of Saudi Arabian and European partners has commenced a project to implement and provide satellite based environmental information products and services to the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The environmental monitoring covers all four environmental domains "land - air - coast - marine" and follows previous experience gained in the European GMES - "Global Monitoring for Environment and Security" programme. The providers are Summit Geoservices (KSA) and a European team lead by GAF and consisting of DLR, Germany and Telespazio, Italy. 

TerraImaging, the youngest member of the Geokosmos Group of Companies, has signed a contract with the Dutch Ministry Rijkswaterstaat for the second part of the Dutch LiDAR elevation mapping initiative AHN2 (Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland). TerraImaging announces that they won the biggest part of the three lots, the northern region Groningen/Drenthe. Every company was limited to one lot. The aim of the project is the creation of a highly accurate Elevation Model for the whole country. The Dutch Ministry was one of the first to detect the benefits of LiDAR technology. TerraImaging has already been involved in the creation of the first nationwide Elevation Model of the Netherlands in the 1990s (AHN).

OGC announces that PCI Geomatics has upgraded their OGC membership level to Strategic membership. PCI Geomatics' decision to upgrade underscores its commitment to geospatial interoperability, the geospatial industry, and the OGC. PCI Geomatics (as PCI Remote Sensing) was one of the eight charter members of OGC at its founding in 1994.

More than 50 aerial mapping company representatives and Intergraph Digital Mapping camera (DMC) users from 12 different countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East met for the fourth annual Intergraph European Digital Mapping Camera User Forum. The Satellite Application Centre of South Africa's Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has ordered Werum's remote sensing software DIMS-EO (Data and Information Management System for Earth Observation). This system controls processing workflows and manages, distributes and archives data and data products. It is the first time DIMS-EO will be taken into operation outside of Europe. DIMS-EO came about as a result of collaboration between Werum and DLR.
