The Open Geospatial Consortium OGC announced that Athina Trakas has been appointed as Director European Services for the OGC. In her new position, Ms. Trakas will plan and manage OGC outreach and recruitment in Europe, working out of the OGC's Bonn office.

Optech announces New Lynx Mobile Mapper V200
Optech Incorporated, the provider of advanced lidar survey instruments, announced the availability of the Lynx Mobile Mapper V200. Trimble announced that it has been selected by the National Development and Reform Commission, which is led by the China Earthquake Administration (CEA), to supply Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Continuous Operating Reference Station (CORS) receivers for the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China (CMONOC). Trimble will supply 295 NetR8 GNSS CORS receivers and GNSS Choke Ring antennas for the project.
A new agreement with Microsoft Corporation gives ArcGIS users fast access to Microsoft Virtual Earth for their geographic information system (GIS) projects. As part of ArcGIS Online at the ArcGIS 9.3.1 release, ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server users will be able to connect directly to Virtual Earth and quickly start their GIS projects with ready-to-use content.

UltraMap 1.0 provides a flexible and scalable distributed system for managing and processing vast amounts of data from the company's UltraCam series of digital aerial mapping sensors, including the UltraCamD, UltraCamX, UltraCamXp and UltraCamL/Lp.

The announcement comes just 8 months after its predecessor, the UltraCamL, was announced from the XXIst International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Congress in Beijing, setting a new standard for the medium format camera market by offering an excellent performance/price ratio and comprehensive photogrammetric capabilities, including aerotriangulation and digital surface model production.
At the 2009 annual conference for the American Society for Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (ASPRS) in Baltimore this week, Vexcel Imaging, GmbH-Microsoft's Photogrammetry division-announced a recent flurry of sales of its UltraCam large and medium format digital aerial mapping cameras. The sales bring the number of UltraCam large format systems sold worldwide-which includes the UltraCamD, UltraCamX and UltraCamXp models-to 113, making the UltraCam arguably the leading selling large format aerial camera on the market. Meanwhile, two orders were placed for the UltraCamL medium format system just eight months after it was announced from the XXIst International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Congress in Beijing and two months before it is scheduled for actual release.
