Today's scanning technology together with up to date software tools and data storage systems make possible a much higher scanning resolution than only few years ago. Where at that time a resolution of only 25µm produced far too much data to handle, now one can easily achieve a resolution of even 10µm without any issues. That means more than twice the resolution possible before.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council has saved thousands of pounds following the introduction of mapping integrated street lighting software from Mayrise Systems. The remotely hosted software has helped the Council improve the collection and management of lighting asset information, which in turn has led to an immediate reduction in their electricity bill. Streetlights that don’t work or have previously been removed were, in some cases, still being charged for, while some lights on a metered supply were also being charged on a fixed rate contract.
Fugro awarded French LiDAR Bathmetry Surveys
Fugro has been awarded a contract to conduct an Airborne LiDAR Bathymetry (ALB) survey of the Finistère and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) regions of France to be conducted during February to May 2012. The surveys will be conducted with the Fugro LADS Mk 3 ALB system. Covering a total survey area 2,200km², the joint contracts have been awarded to optimise survey conditions in two very different environments.
