RapidEye, a provider in wide area, repetitive coverage of Earth through its constellation of satellites announced that it has signed a contract with China's Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) to cover almost five million square kilometers of China over the next few months.

Avenza Systems Inc., producers of MAPublisher cartographic software for Adobe Illustrator and Geographic Imager geospatial tools for Adobe Photoshop, celebrates its world-wide recognition from the International Map Trade Association (IMTA) as a top producer of cartographic software and innovative technology winning the coveted ‘IMTA Global Award’ at its November conference in Bangkok, Thailand. Accepting the award with its pioneering PDF Maps app, Avenza received the sought-after honor which recognizes the best products from three international Map Trade Association Regions. It is determined only once every few years from a list of mapping industry awardees –the best of the best-- from retailers of atlases and manufacturers of globes to developers of geographic information systems.

SimActive Inc., a developer of photogrammetry software, announced that Keystone Aerial Surveys, Inc. has purchased its Correlator3D product for deriving accurate digital elevation models (DEM).
With Keystone’s growing production requirements, it was necessary to use robust photogrammetry software able to handle large statewide and multiple county projects. SimActive’s Correlator3D was perfectly suited for these requirements offering ease-of-use combined with high precision and matchless productivity.

Astrium Services’ GEO-Information division, a provider of geo-information products and services, has been awarded a contract in North America by MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) to deliver Pléiades 1 & 2 and SPOT 5, 6 & 7 Direct Access capabilities to the Canadian Department of Defense (DND) as part of the Joint Space Support Project (JSSP). The corresponding Terminals will be integrated by MDA as part of two deployable satellite surveillance systems, providing DND access to Astrium’s full range of optical imaging satellite capabilities.

Esri president Jack Dangermond opened a discussion, known as the Spatial Roundtable, about the value of geographic information system (GIS) technology and GeoDesign in responding to the effects of climate change. Following the recent launch of its new online training portal, Snowflake Software announces that its special introductory offer for the Online GML Fundamentals course sold out in less than 48 hours. As part of its 10 year anniversary celebrations, Snowflake offered a special 10 for 10 for 10 promotion enabling 10 people to take the new course for just £10. All proceeds from the sell-out offer were donated by the Company to Soft Power Education, an NGO that supports health and education projects in Busoga, Uganda.

The BlomWEB Viewer is a front end web application for Blom’s geo server, BlomURBEX. Following development of the BlomURBEX API, Blom is pleased to announce that version 3.1 of the BlomWEB viewer is now available to customers. The development of Version 3.1 has been focused on the addition of new capabilities, demo scenarios, integration with the new BlomSTREET product as well as allowing for greater customization.
