Learn How to More Effectively Manage Facilities
A new white paper commissioned by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) outlines the importance of integrating geographic information system (GIS) technology into the building life cycle. Available to download for no fee, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Facility Management offers detailed information on using GIS to more efficiently manage facilities.
Real-world examples showing GIS implementations across many industries and topics include management of the following:
• Real estate and portfolios
• Space
• Maintenance
• Environmental and sustainability efforts
• Emergency preparedness
Additionally, the paper addresses how GIS can be integrated with other applications such as computer-aided facility management (CAFM), integrated workplace management systems (IWMS), and building information modeling (BIM).
The paper was written by PenBay Solutions LLC, a leader in bringing GIS technology inside the building, and sponsored by Manhattan Software, leaders in CAFM and IWMS software; Esri; and the IFMA Foundation, an organization working to promote research and educational opportunities for the advancement of the facility management (FM) profession.
PenBay and Manhattan Software will join Esri at the IFMA World Workplace 2010 Conference and Expo, to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, October 27–29, 2010. Visit booth #243 to speak to the contributors and see demonstrations of how Esri's ArcGIS 10 provides real-world solutions for FM.
