It's probably no coincidence that the winner in the category Multimedia during Bentley's BE Inspired Award is an early user of Pointools and MicroStation. Just one day before i-Ten was given the award, it was announced that Bentley Systems acquired the producer of Pointools.

Aerial photography dating back to the 1940s has provided crucial evidence in a long running battle for public access to a historic site on Dartmoor, England. A Planning Inquiry has ruled in favour of the landowner who bought the land around Vixen Tor in 2003, closing off access to the general public. The order to open two paths across the land was made by Devon County Council with support from The Ramblers (formerly the Ramblers Association) and the British Mountaineering Council. Following the recent ruling by the Planning Inspectorate this order has now been rescinded.

Mr Christain Dries and Mr Andy Madge, the Director of Air Traffic Services at Cobham Aviation confirm the sale of the first Diamond DA42 MPP GUARDIAN in the United Kingdom. After the installation of special role equipment by Diamond Airborne Sensing, part of Diamond Aircraft GmbH, the aircraft will be used for the inspection and calibration of airfield navigation systems.
Blom Czech Republic and Control System International Ltd have completed a vegetation analysis survey using terrestrial laser scanning for SAFE TREES. The focus of this survey was to evaluate the condition of trees in Jihlava using LiDAR data. Blom’s terrerstrial laser scanning technology enables highly accurate and detailed data about the parameters of the crown and trunk of trees to be evaluated. The quality of data brings a much greater reliability and accuracy of the overall assessment than was previously achievable with traditional techniques.
With this year's theme, "Embrace the GeoCloud Innovation", SuperMap GIS Conference 2011 (SGC 2011) drew to a close on Saturday, 17 September in Beijing after three days. Through a showcase of the latest SuperMap GIS technologies, various success stories and mature solutions in different industries, SGC 2011 proved a great success with about 4,000 conference participants.
A South African company is pioneering the latest laser scanning technology with plans to mount high speed scanners on a variety of mobile platforms including a gyrocopter, 4x4’s and even a golf cart. Supplied by 3D Laser Mapping, the Riegl VZ-400 will be used by Land and Marine Surveys, a survey company based in Umhlanga in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, for traditional terrestrial scanning, mobile data capture and the production of design-quality graphics.
One of the artificial harbours that played a pivotal role in supplying the Allied forces who landed on D-day is to be surveyed using the latest hydrography software and survey techniques.
