Impression of the Esri User Conference 2010
By Remco Takken
The First day of the Esri User Conference has ended. Keynote speaker Richard Saul Wurman spoke about his project 192021 (nineteen, twenty, twenty-one: 19 cities and 20 million citizens in the 21st century), which tries to get a hold on the phenomenon ‘City’.
Both Richard Tomlinson and Esri-CEO Jack Dangermond received the Bell Award from National Geographics. It was hand over by Gil Grosvenor, editor-in-chief of National Geographics and greatgrandson of mastermind Alexander Graham Bell.
Many demo’s were presented. There is a lot to be seen on e.g. Imagery (aerial photo’s and satellite images through ArcGIS). Also, the sharing of maps through the internet.
The most attractive presentation on day 1 was from CitySourced. Reporting irregularities in public space will in the near future boom via iPhone, Android and Blackberry’s.
